MK Yinon Azoulay of Shas launched a fierce attack on the opposition bloc in a recent interview, ruling out any possibility of joining a government led by Gadi Eisenkot. He also called on right-wing candidates polling below the electoral threshold to withdraw from the race.

Criticism of the Opposition and Eisenkot

Speaking with 103FM, Azoulay dismissed the opposition as a "divisive bloc" rather than a "change bloc," claiming its members seek to undermine the Jewish identity of the state. When questioned about Eisenkot, who has reportedly held discussions with ultra-Orthodox factions, Azoulay remained adamant.

"He wants to establish a government with Yair Golan, Avigdor Lieberman, Lapid, and Bennett, who explicitly state they do not want a state with Jewish values in the public sphere. If these are the people he wants to partner with, that is not a bloc we should be in," Azoulay stated.

Call for Right-Wing Unity

Addressing the political landscape on the right, Azoulay directed a specific message to Ofer Winter, head of the Amha Israel party, urging him to drop out.

  • Winter is currently polling below the electoral threshold.

  • Azoulay emphasized that "this is not a time for ego, it is a time to save our country."

  • He called on all marginal right-wing figures to step aside to secure a united nationalist coalition.

When asked about the status of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and controversies surrounding visits to the Temple Mount, Azoulay distanced himself from such actions while confirming that Ben Gvir remains an integral part of the religious-right bloc.
