Avigdor Lieberman: "One-hit wonder parties are the main reason for our defeat"

Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Lieberman gave an interview this morning, Tuesday, to 103FM, where he attacked what he refers to as the "party fashion." According to him, this is the main reason for the loss in the previous elections.

"Vote for stable parties, not for one-hit wonder parties. This is what we lost the last elections over," Lieberman emphasized.

He added: "I tell everyone: you had an opportunity to integrate into existing parties, but because of personal ambitions, you decided to run independently. Do not interfere; you have no chance. From what I saw in the polls, none of them pass the threshold, but they can subtract three mandates from the productive and serving sector."

Lieberman also noted that all those behind the new lists had received offers from various parties: "The offers were fair and generous, but everyone followed their own ambition. Since 1977, I have counted 15 lists that arose from nowhere and disappeared into nowhere: from Yigael Yadin and DASH, Kadima, Achura, Am Ehad, Am Acher, Hatnua, to pensioners' parties and youth movements. Too many things are at stake now."

When asked if he sees himself and his party as the heirs of the historical Likud, Avigdor Lieberman replied in the affirmative: "There is no doubt that the only national-liberal movement today in the political landscape is Yisrael Beiteinu; there are no others. Every true Likudnik must vote for Yisrael Beiteinu."

Regarding the composition of the current Likud list, the Yisrael Beiteinu chairman said that Benjamin Netanyahu built a list for defeat: "What guides him is how not to create 51% in the faction against him, and how not to form another group that could receive recognition from the Knesset and break away. Not to lose a majority within the faction, he makes these calculations."
