Audi A6 e-tron Sets New Range Record With 1,338 Kilometers on Single Charge
Polish racing driver Miko Marczyk has set a new Guinness World Record by driving an unmodified Audi A6 e-tron Sportback 1,338 kilometers on a single charge.
Electric vehicle range records have been shattered as Polish racing driver Miko Marczyk piloted a standard Audi A6 e-tron Sportback an astonishing 1,338 kilometers on a single charge. The feat was accomplished without any powertrain modifications, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record set last year by a Lucid Air driver who covered 1,205 kilometers between charges.
The record-setting journey began in Zakopane, Poland, and concluded in Kraków. Backed by Audi, Marczyk significantly outperformed the vehicle's official WLTP range of approximately 770 kilometers, powered by a 94.9 kWh battery pack. The dramatic increase in efficiency was achieved through careful route planning that included steep descents, allowing maximum utilization of the regenerative braking system.
Under optimal conditions, the Audi regenerative braking system can recover up to 220 kW of energy, recharging a substantial portion of the battery during downhill driving. Marczyk employed a specialized driving technique known as hypermiling, which prioritizes extreme energy conservation through constant speeds, minimal acceleration, restricted climate control use, and strategic topography utilization.
