Ariana Grande is not hiding her next move: "I'm trying to make him my last"
Following a series of stage hints and an official confirmation of their relationship, Ariana Grande has dropped a major hint about her future with former partner Ricky Alvarez.
Ariana Grande concluded her Eternal Sunshine tour in London on Tuesday, but just before saying goodbye to the audience, she left them with another reason to cheer. This time, she made a small but significant change to the lyrics of one of her most recognizable hits, "Thank U, Next."
While singing the well-known breakup anthem dedicated to her exes, the moment arrived for the famous line about Ricky Alvarez, who was her partner between 2015 and 2016 and has recently returned to her life. Originally, Ari sang that she wrote some songs about him and now listens to them and laughs, but this time, in front of the British audience, she changed the lyrics:
"I'm trying to make him my last."
The dancers on stage jumped with joy at the gesture, and the audience in the arena responded with equal enthusiasm. This is by no means the first time this summer that the star has played with the song's lyrics; it started when she changed a line to compliment her returning partner, making it clear that the songs about him still resonate. Two days later, on her birthday, when Alvarez stood in the VIP area near her parents, she stepped it up, singing that she knows he is still looking out for her. The peak, just before this latest announcement, came in mid-July in New York, when she sang that they always find their way back to each other.
Only recently, after all the public teasing, the two made it official with a couple's photo on social media. Later, Grande also revealed a matching tattoo on her collarbone with the inscription "I do love you."
Note that the singer, whose split from actor Ethan Slater after nearly three years together was revealed only last June, also addressed her physical condition this week. After being seen limping during a performance, she revealed that she is suffering from a deep cut on her leg and had to perform in comfortable shoes. This comes in parallel to her recent announcement that she will take a step back once the tour concludes.
