After the divorce: Michal Amdursky reveals why she did not change her last name
The singer talks about her high-profile divorce from Assaf Amdursky, explains why she decided to keep his last name, and reveals the heavy price she paid for 14 years.
Singer Michal Amdursky, the former partner of musician Assaf Amdursky, was a guest on the podcast "Family You Don't Choose" (Mishpacha Lo Bocharim), hosted by Liat Sklarz. In the interview, the veteran pop star spoke about her marriage to the Israeli star, the magnificent musical career she built over the years, and her stance on today's music industry.
During the conversation, the singer was asked why she decided to keep her ex-husband's last name after the divorce. To recall, Michal Niederman married singer Assaf Amdursky in 1995, after a short period of acquaintance. The two had two daughters. After failing to deal with the gaps between them, the two announced the breakup and divorced in 2008.
In response, Michal Amdursky noted:
"The reason I didn't change it is because of the question 'why?' So that I wouldn't be asked questions about why I changed the name. I think I paid for 14 years for this name, and it's good, also for my daughters. It's simply my stage name, it seems silly to me now to change it and overthink it."
As is known, Michal Amdursky is a singer, dancer, actress, and television host known in Israel. She began her career as a dancer in her youth. She appeared in a series of musicals and dance shows, released popular songs, and served as a judge on reality shows and as a host on children's channels and television. Recently, the star spoke about the defining moment in her life when she decided to change direction in her career for the sake of her family's financial well-being.
In Yifat Haleli Avraham's podcast, Amdursky shared:
"The moment the children are born, you arrive at decisions, these decisions mean that you need to buy an apartment, you need to take a mortgage, you need to provide for the children's extracurricular activities and schools. You understand that you need to go for the safe bet and do children's plays. Children's plays, it never ends."
