After being spotted limping on stage: Ariana Grande shares she cut her foot
Concerned fans watched the American star limping on stage during her London performances and ditching heels for comfortable shoes. Now, Grande addresses her condition and claims: "It's not a sprain, just a deep cut on my foot - don't worry."
Ariana Grande announced to her fans on Instagram that she would be performing the final shows of the Eternal Sunshine Tour in comfortable shoes after suffering a deep cut on her foot and beginning to limp on stage. Grande clarified that it was not a sprain or a muscle injury, but a cut for which she is still bandaged — which means the heels are coming off, at least for one night and possibly two.
"I wanted to update that I will have to be in comfortable shoes for the show tonight, and possibly tomorrow, because I am bandaged underneath and recovering from a minor injury. It is not a sprain or anything muscular, just a deep cut!" Grande wrote in a story on August 31.
She added that fans might notice it is a bit difficult for her to put weight on that foot, but asked them not to worry. The concern arose after footage of the star limping led to speculation among her fans; three days before the update, a fan account uploaded footage to X in which the 33-year-old Grande is clearly seen limping while walking in heels during a performance of "Supernatural."
A few hours after her story, another fan account posted a clip where she is singing and dancing to "Yes, And?" while wearing UGG-style boots.
"The show goes on and I am on the road to recovery. I cannot wait to perform for you tonight and tomorrow, even if I will be a few centimeters shorter than usual. I love you always," Grande wrote.
Alongside the injury, Grande is nearing the end of the tour and a break from public performances. Her team announced earlier this month that after the tour ends, she will take a step back. Her representative told E! News on August 2 that she is looking forward to finishing the tour on a high note, healthy and happy, and then taking a well-deserved break. In the same statement, her team addressed the ongoing public scrutiny surrounding her appearance, with a source close to Grande noting that she performs a very physical show at a high level night after night.
Grande's Eternal Sunshine Tour is expected to end tonight, September 1, in London.
