Anthropic Pulls Job Listing Offering $450,000 Salary for Meta Account Executive
Anthropic hastily deleted a job listing offering up to $450,000 for a Meta-focused sales executive, highlighting high-stakes ties and upcoming IPO preparations amid rising competition.

Anthropic recently published an unusual job posting and quickly deleted it following inquiries from media outlets. Titled "Mega Account Executive, Meta," the listing offered an exceptional annual salary of $380,000 to $450,000 for a candidate tasked with ensuring that Meta continues to long-term utilize the artificial intelligence tools of the AI firm.
The Deleted Listing and Unprecedented Salary
Anthropic's job posting stood out particularly due to its extreme specificity. While the company's other sales roles target broad geographic regions or entire sectors, such as startups or public sector professionals, this position defined a single, precise target: Meta. The role's objective was defined as acquiring new business and expanding revenues from a strategic client portfolio. The company removed the listing from its career site immediately after Business Insider reached out with questions on the matter.
According to media reports, Meta is currently considered one of Anthropic's largest clients, spending hundreds of millions of dollars monthly on its AI tools. Anthropic's coding assistant tool, Claude Code, became exceptionally popular this year among Meta employees and across Silicon Valley. According to internal estimates published in The New York Times, Meta's annual procurement volume from Anthropic could potentially reach approximately $10 billion, making it a critical revenue stream for the company.
Growing Competition and Upcoming IPO
According to Business Insider, despite the close cooperation, Meta is simultaneously attempting to develop independent artificial intelligence models to reduce its dependency on Anthropic. This move occurs at an exceptionally sensitive timing for Anthropic, which is currently working to strengthen its financial position ahead of an initial public offering (IPO). Meta's head of artificial intelligence products, Nat Friedman, reportedly clarified to his employees that reducing the use of Anthropic's tools could severely impact its partner's revenues precisely at this critical juncture.
