Amazon Cuts Under 1,000 Corporate Jobs in Targeted Retail Layoffs
Amazon confirmed a new round of targeted layoffs affecting under 1,000 corporate employees in its stores division, coinciding with the Prime Big Deal Days shopping event.

Amazon confirmed another targeted round of layoffs focusing on a limited number of positions, primarily within its stores division that manages the main e-commerce platform. The timing coincides with the Prime Big Deal Days shopping event.
According to a source speaking to Reuters, Amazon cut fewer than 1,000 corporate jobs across departments including customer service and seller partner services, impacting employees in the USA, India, and the United Kingdom. Amazon stated that adjustments were made to better align with its priorities.
Founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos addressed the staff reductions, attributing them to overhiring during the COVID-19 pandemic when consumer demand surged significantly while people stayed at home.
