A price comparison of adjustable dumbbells weighing up to 24 kilograms has revealed significant gaps across retail chains and specialized sports stores in Israel, with a difference of up to 180 shekels per unit.
The ABACO SMART GYM adjustable dumbbell, which ranges from 2.5 to 24 kilograms across 15 different weight settings, is being sold at the Osher Ad chain for 299 shekels. The mechanism allows users to select the desired weight simply by turning a dial, replacing an entire rack of traditional weights with a single compact unit.
In specialized sports stores, however, comparable universal adjustable dumbbells command higher prices. At Total Sport, a single unit is priced at 380 shekels, bringing the cost of a pair to 760 shekels compared to 598 shekels for two units at Osher Ad. At TON Sports, the price climbs to 437 shekels per unit, or 874 shekels for a pair. Meanwhile, Or Sport offers an adjustable dumbbell with a similar weight range for 479 shekels, down from a previous price of 590 shekels, with a pair currently promoted at 899 shekels.
While the products in specialized stores are sold under different brand names, they share the exact same format, the 2.5 to 24 kilogram weight range, and the 15-step selection mechanism. Consequently, the pricing analysis highlights a clear spread ranging from 299 shekels at Osher Ad up to 479 shekels per unit at Or Sport, leaving Osher Ad with the lowest price point in the market test.
