At 88, after dozens of awards: The acclaimed actor begins a new career
Legendary film actor Anthony Hopkins has launched his debut album, featuring works he has composed over six decades. The pieces were recorded with the Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of conductor Gustavo Dudamel.
Hollywood star and Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins is surprising the cultural world by launching his first music album, "Life Is a Dream," at the age of 88. The album includes 12 original works that the actor recorded together with the Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.
Hopkins, who began playing the piano at the age of four and composed music for theater productions in his youth, shared that this is the fulfillment of a dream: "I have been composing melodies all my life. Some of these pieces have been with me for decades, and I always return to them."
The musical venture began to be revealed in July, when the actor announced the start of a new career and released the single "Bracken Road." For Hopkins, this is not his first attempt: in 2012, he won a Classic Brit award for his contribution to the album "And the Waltz Goes On," and last year he performed his works before an audience in Saudi Arabia. Now, decades of composing reach their peak.
As a reminder, Hopkins has won two Oscars out of six nominations, with one of his most memorable roles, despite the relatively short screen time he received, being Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the cult film "The Silence of the Lambs."
