At 77: Lionel Richie hospitalized for the second time in two months

The legendary 77-year-old singer is hospitalized in the intensive care unit in St. Louis, following a performance he held in the city this past weekend, reported the site TMZ this evening (Monday). According to sources familiar with the details, Richie checked himself into a local hospital after the performance at The Muny to undergo medical tests. According to reports in the USA, Richie is exercising extreme caution following his medical condition, and doctors are checking whether he became dehydrated during the performance. According to those same sources who spoke with TMZ, the singer is expected to be discharged from the hospital as early as tomorrow.

Fans who were at Richie's last performance said that the singer had difficulty moving towards the end of it. According to them, while he was performing the last song, 'All night long', he asked the crew to bring him a chair so he could sit down.

As recalled, last June, Richie greatly worried fans after he was forced to unexpectedly stop the opening night of his North American tour, after feeling unwell during a performance in Minnesota. The 77-year-old Richie performed for about an hour at the Grand Casino Arena, as part of the joint tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, before he had difficulty performing 'Dancing on the Ceiling' and sat down several times on stage. Following that, the star also cancelled two additional performances on the advice of doctors.
